Susan has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Yale University, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Before joining Quad Education, her career has included extensive experience in both the for- and non-profit sectors, and college admissions, throughout which she has been passionate about mentoring young people on both their educational and early career journeys.
Susan spent the early days of her career working in investment banking with Morgan Stanley in New York and LA and in private equity on several turnaround efforts. After business school, she worked in strategy consulting with the Boston Consulting Group and as an independent advisor to a wide variety of organizations facing unique challenges – from businesses in start-up, high growth or change management situations to non-profits expanding their reach, impact, and efficacy.
She spent several years leading private communities of C-suite executives from across the globe as a director at World 50, an organization that builds private, intimate peer forums for the leaders of the world’s largest companies with the sole purpose of helping them to share ideas and experiences that advance their efforts and organizations. In that capacity, she had the privilege of leading collaboration, conversation, and curated counsel on some of the topics most crucial to global leaders. It greatly informed her sense of what current students need to continue their journey toward impactful global citizenship.
Subsequently, Susan turned her experience back to the non-profit sector as the National Director of Employer Partnerships for the Hire Opportunity Coalition, a role in which she supports major U.S. companies in the development of their capacity to hire and retain opportunity youth (young people ages 16-24 who are disconnected from school or work).
Fostering growth, success, and leadership in individuals has always been a passion of Susan’s. She has advised students on their college and graduate school applications, resumes, and job search efforts for many years. On a personal level, Susan is now based in Atlanta, GA and is the proud mom of two children, one a recent graduate and one a rising college junior. She spends her free time hiking, writing, traveling, volunteering, enjoying the arts and collecting new memories with family and friends.
Through her many professional roles, at both the undergraduate level and the graduate level, Mary has served for almost forty years as an important resource to students, faculty and corporate partners.
With her outgoing personality, Mary plays an integral role in the lives of every Quad Education applicant she works with, and she often builds relationships that last far longer than the typical advising experience. After teaching for more than 16 years as an educator, her graduate studies brought her to Columbia University where she began a career in student services that would include senior positions in admissions, financial aid, athletics, academic advising and career services, and corporate outreach.
Early in her career, Mary served at Columbia as the Associate Director of Athletics and then as the Director of Financial Aid. Her vast experience in both undergraduate and graduate school admissions includes positions as the Director of Admissions for the School of Education, Nursing and the Arts at New York University; the Director of Admissions, Columbia School of Nursing and the Associate Director of Admissions for MBA Programs at the Columbia School of Business.
Mary spent many years at the Columbia School of Business, where she also served as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for MBA Academic Advising and as the Corporate Director for Executive Education Programs. In 2000, Mary moved back to one of her alma maters, the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she spent twelve years as Director of Career Services for both undergraduate and graduate students at the Leeds School of Business, and an additional six years as Manager for Corporate Outreach and Student Engagement for Burridge Center for Finance.
Finally, in 2014, while still working part-time at CU Boulder, Mary accepted a 3-year assignment as Director of Colorado Mountain College in Buena Vista, CO.
"Susan was extremely responsive and professional while also making the experience extremely personalized and tailored based on my goals. She was always available to answer questions across various aspects of the application process including reviewing my resume, school trips, mock interviews, and essay reviews, and she is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the process. She was never too busy and always responded within 24 hours. Without her guidance I never would have been able to have been accepted to 3 Ivy League schools and I would recommend her to anyone who is applying to college."
"Since I was in middle schools, it's been my dream to attend an Ivy league school. Quad Education has helped me realize this dream, and for that I couldn't have been more grateful. I'm going to Columbia on scholarship. The feeling is indescribable, thank you Quad Education."
"I thorougly enjoyed working with Katherine. She took my application to a whole new level. I was able to uncover aspects of my story that I never knew existed. Finally, after all these years of hard work, I've made it to Cornell. Thank you Katherine, and thank you Quad Education!"

"My coach worked with me to set a realistic timeline given the large number of schools I was planning to apply to and, while she was always flexible when things got in the way, was great about keeping me on track throughout the process. She was extremely responsive and knowledgeable about the programs I was applying to. I particularly recommend the comprehensive counseling package."
"Quad Education's guidance was targeted and most certainly moved the needle for me. No doubt I they were the reason I got into Stanford and Harvard."
"Grace and the Quad Education team were prompt to deliver feedback on overall strategy, essays, and resumes. They will work with you endlessly until you have something you'd be proud to submit. Every base was covered, from developing compelling essays to advice in approaching your recommenders to live interview prep. The result - In addition to Dartmouth and Yale, I was admitted to Princeton, my dream school, with scholarship!"
"Thanks to Quad Education's support, I was able to transfer to Stanford. It was such a nerve-wracking process, but finally I'm studying systems engineering at my dream school. Couldn't have done it without Quad Education's admissions officers."
"Attending Stanford has been my lifelong ambition. And as I'm writing this testimonial, I am proud to say that I have been accepted. Working with Quad Education was the best decision. Yes, I worked hard. It was nose to the grindstone for years. But there is no way I would've been able to crack Stanford without Quad Education's help. Working with them felt like I was working directly with the admissions committee. What a great team of experts!"
"I worked with Katherine through the end-to-end support program and she was fantastic. Extremely responsive and supportive, she went above and beyond to provide helpful feedback on both essays and interview preparation. She is a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her. She really came to know my background and narrative extremely well. Her turnaround time was always incredibly efficient, usually within 24 hours. She is genuinely committed to seeing you do well, and she understands the application process deeply, as well as what different programs are looking for."
"Kartik exemplified the most essential quality needed in a coach – being invested in applicant’s success. He worked beyond the time limits to give my application the best chance I could possibly get. Compared to many other coaches that I have met, he showed intimate knowledge of most schools and advised me on possibilities of cracking a given school keeping in mind my long-term goals. Overall I highly recommend Kartik and it was a pleasure working with him."
"I got connected to Quad Education through a friend who had worked with them and gotten accepted to UC Berkeley. From the first call, it was absolutely clear that they are experts on UC Berkeley applications. They know the ins and outs of the process. They provided insights that only a former admissions officer can provide. Got accepted to Cal!"
"Kate took the time to get to know me as a person. I felt that I was being treated as a friend or a family member. I also met her in person when I was visiting UCLA. She showed me around town and bought me lunch before my interview."
"Howard's impact on my application essays was extraordinary. Both in helping me with the big picture of the story I was trying to tell, and the final edits and tweaks to make the essay as specific to my target schools as possible, his work was critical to my success. Thanks for all the support!"
"My coach knew exactly what the admissions committee wants. Such a pleasure to work with Quad Education. Got a full ride to UChicago, which was my dream school."
"Quad Education went above and beyond. My coaches even used their personal network to help connect me to college students with similar backgrounds to mine. Most importantly, they were organized, patient, and always available, even at very short notice."
"I worked directly with Grace, who was patient enough to work with me across six time zones and two continents for six months, assisting me with all my applications. She was incredibly insightful about the entire process and provided consistently valuable feedback, enthusiasm, and advice, even when I was starting to inevitably get tired. I can not recommend her and Quad Education's services enough."
"From our initial call, I was impressed by Quad Education's professionalism, sharpness, and eagerness to get started. I never questioned their level of commitment to my success and to leaving no stone unturned. I feel they went above and beyond because the team cares for applicants. They were never been unwilling to schedule a quick call or reply to an email. While many services and counselors talk the talk, Quad Education's team most certainly walks the walk."
"I am Asian American, which meant that there was additional pressure to differentiate myself from the rest of the applicant pool. The admissions committee insights that I got from Quad Education were a game changer. They knew exactly what Penn is looking for. The depth, quality, and relevance of insights was amazing. I'm a freshman at Penn and it is everything I imagined it would be. So grateful that I worked with Quad Education and am able to live this experience."
"At every step of the process of working with Susan, I knew that I was in capable hands. Her experience proved invaluable as many of the assumptions I had about the process were entirely incorrect. My successful application, and the financial aid I received with it, are a testament to her ability as an admission counselor. She was more than just a coach, she was a mentor."
"I really appreciated how the entire Quad Education team provided guidance that helped me take my applications to the next level but never tried to change my writing style or the essence of what I wanted to portray. They made the application process enjoyable, and even helped me learn more about myself that I will carry with me beyond college. I am so thankful to Quad Education for all of the amazing guidance and would highly recommend working with them!"
"I'd give Quad Education a 5 star review without a doubt. I worked with Susan who was an absolute superstar. She has attended both Yale and Harvard, so I had no doubt that her credentials were impeccable. Susan is extremely empathetic and knows exactly what works. She was able to help me stand out even though I am an overrepresented candidate. I am attending Yale in the Fall!"
"Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! Couldn't have done it without you guys. I'm going to attend Yale. It's a dream come true!"
