Marlee is a seasoned college admissions counselor with formal admissions experience at the University of Chicago, where she served as an application reader, interview trainer, scholarship reviewer, and outreach strategist. She graduated summa cum laude with an MS from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, awarded with high distinction. Marlee has helped students gain admission to numerous top 25 public, private, and Ivy League institutions.
Throughout her career in higher education and nonprofit management, Marlee has held leadership roles as Senior Academic Affairs Manager and Director of Student Affairs at the University of Chicago and previously served as Academic & Post-Secondary Success Manager at the Gary Comer Youth Center. She is also a former Teach for America corps member.
What drives Marlee most is the opportunity to support students in discovering their goals and expressing their potential. She believes each student brings a unique mix of strengths, dreams, and questions, and she thrives on guiding them through a personalized, dynamic process of reflection and creative expression.
Marlee’s greatest strengths as a coach include helping students shape compelling narratives and strategically align their academic performance, extracurriculars, recommendations, and essays. She provides clear, constructive feedback while incorporating student voice and encouraging authentic storytelling. Her calm, focused approach helps students stay grounded and organized, even under tight deadlines, while building confidence and clarity throughout the admissions process. Marlee values discovering what makes each student unique and guiding them to craft a powerful narrative reflecting both who they are and what admissions committees are looking for.
Outside of coaching, Marlee enjoys reading, traveling, attending concerts and theatrical productions, watching sports, spending time with loved ones, and taking walks with her corgi.
