Learn How Quad Education Helped Lisa’s Daughter Get Into Northeastern University

With limited knowledge of today’s college admissions landscape, Lisa sought assistance to help her daughter navigate applying to college. “You think about any big life decision, a lot of times you get a coach or an advisor,” she said. “We were looking for a voice to give advice to Isabelle that’s not mom and dad that was a little bit more neutral.” 

Lisa wanted to ensure Isabelle would have the tools necessary to build her profile, create a varied college list, and meet crucial application milestones. She also wanted more guidance for Isabelle on whether to take the SAT and submit scores depending on the school. 

Some of the most impactful college application elements are the personal statement and accompanying essays. To help her daughter differentiate herself, Lisa sought “someone to help tell her story, to not exaggerate or lie, but to bring out interesting elements and to help her shine.”

Lisa saw that many of Quad Education’s admissions experts have attended or worked at many of the nation’s most prestigious colleges. “They had been in the rooms where the decisions are made. I know a lot of the advisors have been on the other side of the table, reading applications,” she said. 

Before her daughter was ready to apply to college, she spent nearly one year working with her Quad Education advisor, Isabelle,  to differentiate her profile.  “Isabelle really helped with the timing of thinking about summer programs for the summer before senior year. You can’t think about that in May. You have to think about that in October, November, December,” said Lisa. We helped Isabelle not only apply to summer programs but also select the right courses, identify high-impact clubs and activities, brainstorm a school list, and determine a standardized testing strategy. 

“She far exceeded our expectations. I think the thing I really liked about her was…she was very experienced, she was very patient, and she was a very good listener. She picked up on concerns or questions or doubts. She was very encouraging,” said Lisa. 

Lisa said that one of the most impactful aspects of the Quad Education experience is the essay writing support and editing. “I think where the rubber meets the road are the essays. That’s the differentiating point. There’s a lot of really smart kids that are doing a lot of great things,” said Lisa. Quad Education helped Isabelle make the most of her personal statement and supplemental essays with positive and encouraging support. 

“It was very helpful. First of all, she helped keep her on track. But she did much more than just grammar editing. Because we can all hire a grammar tutor or a writing tutor. What Quad did, is helped bring out Isabelle’s story,” she said.
